Temple protestant de Versailles - On the way to Haydn
The Trialogues ensemble (J. Farey: flute; M. Deguchi: violin; M. Muller: bass viol) delight us with a repertoire ranging from nascent classicism to the beginnings of the Romantic period.
This pivotal period was as elegant as anything, full of vivacity, depth and a bouncing lightness that predicted Haydn or Mozart.
Throughout the second half of the eighteenth century, in contrast to their European neighbours - Germany, Austria and England too - the bass viol played a prominent role alongside the cello until the 1930s, while the basso continuo function faded discreetly into the background.
It is this rich, moving and highly accessible world that we propose to introduce you to.
