L'Onde - The Dandelion Theorem
A choral, epic tale that blows a wind of freedom across the stage!
A child's letter crosses continents and ends up in the hands of another child in the West. The message, like a bottle in the sea, reminds us of a grim reality: illegal child labour. Two stories intertwine: that of a child here who receives the present of his dreams for his birthday, and that of two friends on the other side of the world, playing with the freedom of carefree fun. But everything comes to a halt the day one of them has to leave the village to work in a factory. Her friend goes looking for him and finds him exhausted from working on the assembly line. Together, they set up the most whimsical of insurrections.
Performed by four actors and a circus performer, this poetic and political tale is rooted in the harshness of the real world, giving rise to the power of imagination and utopia. Just as the dandelion makes its sun shine in the most arid of lands. This fable is a sobering look at the other side of our consumer society.
