1799. A hunting lodge, in a forest, between dog and wolf. A carriage stops. The Marquise de Merteuil gets out, faded and worn. A mysterious note has summoned her, even though she has been retired from the world for more than 15 years, following the death of the Vicomte de Valmont.

Who wrote the note? Have these years of exile mellowed her? Does time heal the wounds of pride? Will the trap set for her destroy her?
