In the space of a decade, Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva has become the queen of the world's most renowned stages.

With her velvety voice and brazen high notes, flawless articulation and imperial breath, her stage presence makes her a major incarnation of the heroines of the repertoire, where she is as brilliant in the Baroque as in the Classical and Romantic.

Following the success of last season's recital and her splendid portrayal of Dido in October, here again is a programme designed for the Christmas season at the Chapelle Royale in Versailles. Great lyrical flights of fancy intertwine splendidly with the beauty of the nativity, from Handel to Puccini, via Gounod, Corelli and the most moving Christmas carols. Sonya Yoncheva will be accompanied by the Royal Opera Choir and Orchestra conducted by Stefan Plewniak.
