Opéra Royal - Mozart: The Magic Flute
In 1791, Mozart gave the premiere of his singspiel Die Zauberflöte at the Theater auf der Wieden. The libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder, who also directed the play in his own theatre, was intended to speak to a popular audience in its own language.
Thanks to the dramatic and dreamlike qualities of the work, and to Mozart's brilliant music, it was performed more than a hundred times in a single year, and its success has continued to grow to the present day - a veritable triumph the world over! But to enthrall young and old, music lovers and novice audiences alike, Mozart and Schikaneder's trump card was to speak to the audience in their own language - and not in Italian like the court opera.
This is what this production offers, in an entirely French version, staged with an extraordinary dreamlike dimension, and as close to the action as possible, by Cécile Roussat and Julien Lubek, and conducted by Hervé Niquet with a team of soloists fully committed to their roles as singer-actors: and flute then, to give even more power to Mozart's masterpiece, here is The Flute in French, and it's an absolute marvel!!!!
Produced by Opéra Royal / Château de Versailles Spectacles.
Re-creation in French of the production first performed at the Opéra de Wallonie Liège in 2015.
