The Revolution and the Royal Tennis Court
The French Revolution began in the city of Versailles
Follow the key stages of the events of 1789, from the meeting of the Estates General called by Louis XVI to its transformation into a National Assembly, along with the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the great Assembly debates. This route gives particular importance to the Tennis Courts built by Louis XIV: the famous speech that marked the start of the French Revolution was made in this sports hall, where princes and courtiers came to exercise.
